Mr Mesmer - with the low turnover of content in these forums an RSS feed would be really useful, anything available?

I looked for notificatoins - I can't see a global option to be notified of any post, just ones of your own which get replied to...

There is no reason why not. The data is stored in a standard MySQL database, so there is no reason why I can't slap a php page up to RSS it.

I'll look into it over the weekend if I get 5 mins Smile

RSS feed for the forums is done. Point your aggregators at the following address:

http://www.desertfoxclan.com/forumrss.php

It returns the most recent 20 posts by default. You can alter this by adding ?count= at the end of the URL.

I've tested it in Firebird and Newsgator and they work fine on the data in the most recent 20 posts. If any subsequent posts introduce invalid XML that breaks it, then let me know so I can filter it out.

Does the RSS thing be add an entry just when a new post is made or when one is amended as well? By the time I finished proof reading my some of my posts I may have amened them 3 or 4 times and I don't want to be filling it up with the same topic.

Edit: This is me amending a post just so I can see what happens to the RSS.

Another Edit: And this is me reporting back that it doesn't add another entry...so people wll never know how many attempts I make!

It would be good if you could amend it to put the date/time of the post next to the topic so I can really quickly see all the fresh entries though.

Bean - I think that the RSS aggregators behave differently in this matter.

I use the Newgator plugin for Outlook, and it does detect changes in posts and regrab them. That said, it only grabs every hour, so it'll grab the one copy that is the newest at its next polling interval.

Date/time next to the post topic - added to my todo list. Shouldn't be a problem at all.

Date/time has now been added to the RSS item title.
