Does anyone know how I can fool a website into thinking I am based in the USA?
I really would like to start using Hulu.com to view lots of American TV shows for free (advert based) - a bit like how iPlayer works in the UK, but it blocks non-USA IP addresses.

I haven't tried it myself yet, but ....
http://www.ultrareach.com/company/download.htm
was developed so that Chinese students could bypass internet censorship in their homeland by masking their location. Let me know how you get on ... |

It maybe works.
If I hit in Firefox, it states that it is not available in my region, if I hit in IE after running the UltraReach it doesn't say this, but it states the video is temporarily unavailable...so I dunno. I'll try again later. |

one quick question about Hulu ... are they showing stuff that hasn't been broadcast on the American networks yet, or is it stuff that has been recently shown and therefore will be available online anyway via 'other sources' ? |

Hotspot Shield seems to do the job nicely. |
It also works for American Joost as well so you can get some channels/programs otherwise unavailable (I think - it asked me for my zip-code when I signed in so I guess so).
[EDIT: Yup there are lots of CBS programs etc that are not available in the UK. And the Fifth Gear stuff is the full episode rather than the 2 minute clips available in the UK. |
