Seems like at long last it will be with us in October for 99 in PC World...

I'd make a couple of points here:

1) I've had one of the "nano" USB tuners from Pinnacle - utter rubbish.
2) The Freeview isn't perfect for SD. I can't imagine HD will be any good until digital switchover and they can allocate more bandwidth to it.

I'm still happy with my HDHomeRun, although contrary to the name, it does not support HD. It does enable the Eee to work as a wireless portable telly tho, as all the decoding is done in the HDHomeRun and not on the PC.

I'm getting a new aerial fitted on Monday - one of the big ones optimised for digital, new cabling etc. Hopefully it'll help some of the Freeview channels. The frequency that ITV, E4 etc are on is poor here.

I am waiting for a PCI or PCIe HD tuner for the media centre as they tend to have stronger pickup of weak signals than the USB ones.

I think the HD is supposed to be good quality though from people who are already on it...the UK has gone with DVB-T2 for HD as it is better for bandwidth than DVB-T. I may buy a cheap 70 set top box to take a look.

Well I have a 50 Freeview HD set top box, and the picture quality is really very good on the four HD channels. The box itself is a heap of crap that locks up and suddenly mutes itself...but when it works it is worth having.

BlackGold have announced a PCI-e DVB-T2 tuner, shipping in December, so I may jump in and take a look at that. Their older 6-in-1 BGT3595 card is the one the media centre crowd goes with so this one should be a decent card I hope.

Or maybe I just get a satellite dish fitted and go with the 6-in-1 card and get HD via FreeSat (I think it is missing ITV HD).

I think Freesat will be better quality than terrestrial, at least til next September.

The locking up and muting sound like firmware bugs - those will likely get fixed sooner or later.

Ordered one of the PCIe cards so will see how it goes.

Locking up set-top box seems to be down to poor signal. Moved it to a different room and it is fine now...signal strength has gone up to 65% from 9%, so I have a bad connection into my lounge alas.
